Town Eccentric, Wood Carver, Artist, Deceased serial killer known as The Chopper
Before Jervis Stoot moved out to the island just north of the Old Light (the island is sort of a bird sanctuary, and called Stoot’s Rock), he had a reputation for eccentricity as he began carving birds of every depiction onto every building in town. He would often be wandering around town for days before he would spot a bird ready to be “released”. He always asked permission, but soon “sporting a Stoot” grew to be bragworthy among Sandpointers. He would sometimes carve one for a ship or a carriage. Those who requested a Stoot or tried to pay him for one would be rebuffed. “There ain’t no birds in that wood for me t’set free.” As his visits grow more infrequent, they become more of an event.
